The 99% & The Wall Street Protest

I have been watching the protest of the past few weeks. I have seen some of the video of those protesting. I understand the struggles of those who are in need but I also understand so much more.
I know that there are those who have taken the wealth and power that they have and used it for their own selfish desire. I know there are problems in society.
So who are the 1%. There are many in the 1%. Yes, I know that a large percentage of the wealth is held by the few people who are in the 1%. I know that there are evil people who are in the group. I know there are evil bankers and evil people on Wall Street but not all bankers are evil, not all rich people are evil, not all people on Wall Street are evil. Many of them have worked hard to get were they are, many of them were poor and have worked hard to build what they have.
Think about it this way, how many people make it to the major leagues in baseball or who play in the NFL? Are they evil for what they have accomplished? Not every one gets to play in the World Series. Is that unfair? Millions of kids work hard to be the best baseball players they can be but will never be inducted into Cooperstown.
So, should we do away with the World Series? Cooperstown? The NFL? It clearly isn’t fair that so many will work so hard and never achieve the highest points of success. How fair is that? Let’s make the system fair. Everyone should be able to play in the NFL if that is what they want. No! That isn’t how it works.
If you look in the history books, you will see stories of those evil millionaires who came out of the industrial revolution. The Robber Barons who took advantage of the less fortunate to build their great wealth while the built the oil industry, the rail roads, etc… Does that mean the Industrial Revolution was evil and that all it created was evil rich people?
Those greedy selfish industrialist. Their wealth has paid for hospitals, school, museums, and the list goes on and on…
What did Steve Jobs do with his great wealth? What is Bill Gates doing with his great wealth?
Yes, I am a part of the99%. I will work hard my whole life and will likely have little to leave behind when I am gone. What I hope to leave behind are my two boys, and my hope and prayer is that they will be godly young men who will do great things with the lives they have been blessed with. I hope many of my students will accomplish great things. Maybe a a future President will have been in one of my classes. Maybe the next Bilyl Graham will have been one of my students. Maybe one of my students will find the cure for cancer. I may not have the wealth of Bill Gates but when the time comes, I hope I can stand before the Lord and he will tell me, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
Jesus said we would always have the poor. We are to take care of those who can’t. The Bible also tells us that those who do not work, will not eat.
Quit complaining about those who have more then you. Start working hard to build a better world. Go to school, get an education. Be all that you can be and let God bless you.
